We opened up the wall to find more mold than we could see in the small hole the plumber made.
Clearing The Air
Mold, a silent intruder, can lurk within the walls, floors, and air ducts of a home, posing serious health risks and structural concerns. Mold remediation is the process of identifying, containing, and eliminating mold infestations to restore indoor air quality and ensure the safety of the occupants. Understanding the importance of mold remediation and the steps involved is essential for safeguarding your property and your well-being.
Recognizing the Signs of Mold
Mold thrives in moist, humid environments and can colonize virtually any surface, including drywall, carpeting, and insulation. Common signs of mold infestation include;
- Visible Mold Growth
- Musty Odors
- Water Damage
- Allergic Reactions
Mold can appear as black spots on the wall, a slight discoloration, and fuzzy patches. You may notice an earthy musty smell. This can indicate the presence of mold growth. Excessive moisture can create an ideal condition for mold growth. Individuals exposed to mold spores indoors may have respiratory issues, allergic reactions, or exaggerated asthma symptoms.
Here is an example of the water line that cracked and saturated the framing and drywall and in just a few days had mold growth.
If you think you might have mold, please call our office for an inspection at 559-453-3336.
Rising from the Ashes

This is a fire caused by a toaster.
Rising from the Ashes
Fire, both awe-inspiring and destructive, has the power to consume everything in its path within minutes. The aftermath is overwhelming. Understanding the causes, effects, and steps to recovery is crucial.
Common Causes of Fires
Fires can ignite from various sources, each presenting unique risks:
- Electrical Malfunctions
- Cooking Accidents
- Heating Equipment
- Smoking
- Arson and Intentional Fires
From faulty wiring, overloaded circuits and damaged appliances can spark and cause a fire. Leaving stoves unattended while cooking or having flammable materials near the cooking area causes most residential fires. Space heaters and improperly maintained furnaces can pose fire hazards especially in the colder months.
Improperly extinguishing cigarettes or discarded ashes can ignite fire both indoors and outdoors. Then you have deliberate acts of arson or vandalism that can cause extensive property damage and endanger lives.
Here is an example of a fire that was caused by a toaster. No one was home and lucky enough the neighbor seen the flames through a roof vent and called 911. This saved the home from being a total loss and the homeowners losing everything.
If you have had a fire and would like an inspection, please call our office 559-453-3336.
One Small Drip

The roof on this commercial building needs to be repaired.
One Small Drip
Water is an essential part of our lives and can also be a source of great destruction. A small leak in a roof can cause havoc in a business in such a short time. Understanding its causes, effects, and prevention measures is important for safeguarding your property and your peace of mind.
Identifying Some Common Causes
Water Damage can originate from various sources, each posing unique challenges:
- Leaking Pipes and Plumbing
- Roof Leaks
- Appliance Malfunctions
- Natural Disasters
From aging pipes, corrosion to poor installation, damaged gutters, and shingles, this can allow water to seep into a business causing gradual damage over time.
It’s important to schedule routine inspections of your plumbing, roof and appliances to detect any potential issues before they escalate.
Here is an example of a roof that needs to be repaired. This is one area where the rainwater was able to seep from a leak in the roof through the attic and down to the ceiling tiles. The owner of the building called us out right away thinking it could be mold. We did an inspection and found it to just be water saturated and stained from the attic materials. This happened to be a very mild water damage and the building owner caught it before it was catastrophic.
If you need an inspection, please call our office at 559-453-3336.
Business sanitation

Deep cleaning an office.
Business sanitation
With the new challenges we are all facing from COVID-19 it is really becoming a struggle to make sure we are doing everything we can to protect ourselves, customers, and employees. Proper education of our staff should be the first line of defense to prevent spread of germs. The importance of cleanliness should be reminded to everyone at the start of each shift. A clean hand and a clean surface do not support transfer of contaminates. Sanitizers and disinfectants are also very helpful on surfaces that can not be cleaned as easily or often as we would like. Regular and proper cleaning protocols are the fastest and most effective actions that can be adopted to flatten the curve!
If you have questions about your specific site feel free to call on us for advice.
Safe travels

Winter is here! Just like every winter that comes it unfortunately brings the fog with it. When foul weather strikes remember to allow for extra time to reach your destination safely and always make sure your headlights are on. With most newer cars the headlights are automatic and may not always come on when its foggy outside so in some cases the driver will need to manually turn them on. Your headlights will make a huge difference in other drivers being able to see you when on the road. When you do safely reach your destination be sure to remember to turn your head lights off to avoid a dead battery. One more little tip is to use the defroster in your car during the foggy times, it can be deceiving sometimes that the fog on your windows can be disguised by the fog outside and reduce your visibility even more.
Happy holidays and safe travels from all of us at SERVPRO of Fresno Southeast.
The secret to cleaning

In progress of cleaning
The secret to cleaning
The reality is there is no secret to cleaning, however the art of cleaning is all about being thorough. No matter what you intend to clean there are some key factors one must consider; what products are safe to use on the surface, can you actually get to the surface to be cleaned, wet or dry cleaning, what are you trying to remove?
Wet cleaning is the most effective but not all materials can withstand the moisture used so you may need to dry clean. Dry cleaning does not necessarily mean that there are no liquids involved just that there is no water used. You may be able to use solvents or scrub with a brush and vacuum to remove the soiling.
When wet cleaning real the label on the product you are using, that is were the secrets are held. Manufactures of cleaning products test the solutions in many ways to find out what works best and will give you the information on the directions of the container. If your solution is too strong or too weak it will not work as good as it is designed to.
In summary take your time and follow the label directions and remember that routine cleaning is faster and easier than letting things build up over time.

Smoke contamination
9/1/2020 (Permalink)
This is one week old out of our office in Fresno
Air quality
With all of the recent wild fire in our area we would like to offer some helpful hints on keeping your home or business as safe and clean as possible.
We have had a tremendous amount of smoke in our air for the last few weeks and it has found its way into everything. All of that smoke has left ash and other contaminates on everything in and around our homes and offices. One of the first things to check is your air conditioning filters. The excessive heat has not helped our situation and our HVAC systems have taken a beating. The filters are probably full of all this air borne debris and should be changed much more often when we experience the seasonal wild fires. When you change your filters buy the nest quality filter you can and change it often. We have been changing ours weekly and it is amazing how fast they can clog with the amount of stuff in the air.
Another helpful tip is to use a dusting cloth that traps and picks up dust on all of the flat surfaces in your home. Using a duster just moves the dust around rather than removing it.
If your home has suffered an excessive amount of smoke contamination give our office a call and we would love for the opportunity to help restore your building to a sparkling clean environment.
